Large-scale Russian Strikes Disrupt Electricity In Ukraine's Capital

Power facilities targeted in Ukraine
Ukraine's power facilities have faced increased attacks in recent weeks

Overnight, Moscow's aerial assaults have resulted in power cuts in multiple districts of Ukraine's capital, Kyiv.

Nine people were hurt while local people in eastern neighborhoods were plunged into darkness and faced disruption to water supplies, according to local authorities.

At the same time, a seven-year-old child was lost their life in a separate assault in the Zaporizhzhia region in the southern area, as reported by area administrators.

Russian forces has increased assaults on power infrastructure over the past few days, while Ukrainian leadership has called for "substantial measures" from partner nations to exert influence on Russia.

"The necessity is not window dressing but decisive action - from the United States, Europe and the major economies - in supplying protection systems and enforcing restrictions," was stated in a public message.

Authorities reported that hundreds of unmanned aircraft and over thirty missiles attacked energy facilities, characterizing such assaults as "cynical and calculated" and against "critical infrastructure" as the weather cools.

Energy officials said Russia was "conducting extensive attacks" and maintenance teams were laboring to restore power.

A series of attacks struck electrical systems and residential structures in the capital.

Five out of the nine people wounded in the attacks on the city have been transported for medical care, per statements from municipal representatives.

Area administrators said the metropolitan region endured intense attacks overnight. A seven-year-old child lost their life and several individuals were wounded.

The attacks follow evenings of air raids in the area, sections of which remain under the control of Moscow's military.

The whole nation is in a state of readiness for sophisticated projectile assaults, which are more difficult to detect.

Government officials told reporters that Moscow was purposely seeking to damage the country's energy grid, with assaults already affecting energy systems.

Officials stated technical personnel and government agencies were bracing for more assaults.
